How to Make DIY Non-Toxic Stain Stick

Posted on February 16, 2022October 6, 2023

With 3 kids, stains are a daily occurrence and there is nothing this Mama can do about it. I’ve been actively switching out our home products for nontoxic/ chemical free options. I was really excited to make this super easy Stain Stick because I knew it would get A LOT of use. But what I didn’t expect was it to be pure magic. This stain stick completely blew me away when I easily took blood from an unexpected bloody nose (happens quite a bit with our 3-year-old) out of our white couch.

Below is the recipe for making your DIY Non-Toxic Stain Stick. I have used this magic stain stick on chocolate, blood, paint, wine, strawberries, etc. It feels good knowing I’m using all natural and safe ingredients every time I clean my couch…and carpet…and clothing…haha!

Non Toxic ingredients for making a DIY Stain Removing Stick for Laundry

Here is how I made my DIY Non-Toxic (Magic) Stain Stick

In a 10ml roller bottle fill with

  • 1 teaspoon of Thieves Dish Soap (You can use Thieves Laundry Soap too)
  • 1 teaspoon of Thieves Cleaner
  • Fill the rest of the bottle with Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 2 drops of Lemon Essential Oil
  • 2 drops of Thieves Essential Oil

Put your roller top on and shake well. CLICK Here to get everything you need for your DIY Stain Stick! You can add one of these cute stickers to front. Click HERE to visit my Etsy Shop where you can download and print at home.

To use your DIY Stain Stick, wet the stain first with cold water. Then roll over the stain. Throw your item in the wash or rub with a damp towel to remove stain. Check out my Instagram Highlight “DIY Stain Stick” to see it in action!

Looking for a cleaner, non-toxic way to do laundry?

My personal favorite is Molly’s Suds and Distilled White Vinegar. It is less than half the cost of normal laundry pods, free of toxic materials and works just as good (if not better) for getting clean laundry. I do 1-2 Tbs. of Mollys straight into the bottom of the washing machine and then fill the fabric softener dispenser with distilled white vinegar and 4 drops of my favorite essential oil (lushious lemon is my fav for washing). The vinegar helps lift stains, odors and softens fabric. When it is time to dry your laundry use wool dryer balls with a few drops of essential oils (Geranium and Joy are SO good).
