Classroom Game | Poke A Pumpkin

DIY Poke a Pumpkin halloween game for little kids.

Poke A Pumpkin is a really simple game for little ones, and even more simple to put together. Here is what you need.

  • 1 large poster board or project board
  • Solo Cups
  • Orange and Green Tissue Paper or Napkins
  • Rubber bands
  • Small Treats and Toys
  • Construction Paper to decorate your board (optional)

To make your game, hot glue your solo cups on the board in the shape of your pumpkin. Make sure you have at least 1 cup for each kid. Fill the cups with small treats and toys. I did little hand stamps, Halloween bracelets, candy, vampire teeth, etc. When you finish filling your cups, place a piece of tissue paper over the cup and secure with a rubber band. You can decorate your board if you want to as well.

When it’s time to play the game, the kids line up and take turns poking/punching through 1 cup and they get the prizes inside. Super simple and the kids had so much fun!

Decorating the Classroom

Classroom Halloween Party Decoration for Kids in School.

You can’t have a party without some decorations. I used a bunch of Halloween Decor that I had at the house to decorate for their party. I hung a Halloween banner above the classroom door and set out a giant jack-o-lantern bucket to welcome the kids inside.

On the teacher’s table I put a cute spiderweb tablecloth, a large witch and a scary black tree up in the center. The teacher loved the chalkboard pumpkin with her name on it.

Party Food for a Classroom Halloween Party

We wanted to keep the sugar at a minimum since the kids would be trick or treating that night. I made popcorn witch hands with plastic gloves, popcorn, and candy corns for finger nails. Another parent made little jack-o-lantern out of clementine’s and a sharpie. Finally we had some Halloween sugar cookies.

Paper Plate Bats Craft

We made paper plate spiders (Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of their cute craft). We took small black paper plates, some black pipe cleaners and different sized googly eyes. The kids got to decorate and create their own spider and had a really fun time doing it.

Halloween No-Candy Party Favors

Classroom Table decorated for Halloween Party with Pumpkins and Party Favor Bags.

I wanted to make something for the kids to take home. Take a little Halloween treat bags and fill them with a few cute items like Halloween pencils, mini notepads, stickers, etc. I decided to keep them non-candy items because again….too much sugar for one day.

Here are some of my favorite items for throwing a Classroom Halloween Party.

Set of Halloween Garlands | Spiderweb Tablecloth | Set of 24 Halloween Bags for Kids | Halloween Bingo | Complete Halloween Party Supply Kit | Halloween Slap Bracelets | Halloween Pencils | Cellophane Treat Bags | 50 piece Halloween Stamps

Last but not least, don’t forget to treat your teachers!

This Easy Moscow Ghoul Gift Idea is a perfect way to treat your teachers! With a copper mug you slip a bottle of ginger beer into a cellophane bag. Place them inside the copper mug and then fill the bag with candy corns. Tie with a ribbon. Slip in a cute Halloween pennant flag (my favorite for teachers is the “I Smell Children” one) and a fun straw. Ta-Da! For more info on these fun gifts check out the full blog post HERE.
