How to WOW with an $8 Gift

Posted on December 7, 2019October 6, 2023

We all have people on our holiday list that we want to gift something too just to say “Thank you” or “I’m Thinking of you” this holiday season. These are the people on your list that you might not want to spend a ton of money on, but they are important enough to you that you want to give them something nice. These handmade gifts are the perfect idea for your teachers, neighbors, hairdressers, mailman, and even your friends this holiday season. Super easy, super cute and even more thoughtful when you pull it all together! The best part…. everything is under $8 (some are under $5) and all the items are completely reusable! Say “NO” to paper gift bags and tissue paper that is just going to get thrown away.

Let me show you how my Mom and I made these cute gifts.

Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase.

In the dollar section at Target you can find sets of 2 super cute Holiday dishtowels for $3. We separated them for each gift making our “wrapping paper” only $1.50 a gift.

Then we picked out our favorite treats. You could do pancake mix, cookie mix, assorted nuts, popcorn, chocolate covered pretzels, hot cocoa, the possibilities are endless.

For our $6 and under gifts you can take the packaged treats and wrap them with the dishtowel. We tied them at the top with a mini bottle brush tree (You can find sets of 6 in the dollar section at Target making them $0.50 a piece!) and a gold jingle bell (Target also has a jar full of jingle bells in various sizes for $5, making them $0.50 per gift). And you have created a really thoughtful, totally cute and completely reusable gift! Yay for no waste! Click HERE for the jar of Bells we used. Click HERE for similar bottle brush trees.

We also made a few using reusable jars. I loved this idea for someone to keep in their kitchen or pantry and use over and over. You just fill the jar with the treats you picked out (or handmade gifts if you like to bake) and tie the jingle bell and bottle brush tree to the top. We even added a cute sticker to the front of the jar (also found in the dollar section of Target), to add a little color. They turned out so cute!

We love how versatile it is. You can do so many different variations for this to cater to the person you are giving it to. Instead of a jingle bell you could do a cute ornament. And if you wanted to add something more to your gift, you could easily tie a giftcard to it.
