How to Paint a Wall Arch

Posted on October 22, 2020October 8, 2023

Girl’s Bedroom Makeover

The girls were overdue for a little makeover in their bedroom. We have had their Modern Space Themed Room for quite a few years now and it was time to get them a little more grown-up look. It is always fun to redecorate their room. I’ve included link to all our favorite items at the bottom of this post so you can get this look too! Here is how to paint a wall arch.

It all started when we decided to see what their room would look like with the beds moved around. We pulled the beds underneath their large window. Everything snowballed for there. They got some more gown up bedding and some amazing light fixtures that I added above each bed on either side of the window.

On their large accent wall I decided to add some DIY Board and Batten to the bottom half. The pattern was a little too much being all over the wall. I love how the board and batten broke up the pattern.

We were then left with the wall by their door. It’s a good size wall and was plain white. It looked so bare and boring. I really wanted to make a spot for the girls books. Something that was cozy and fun where they could snuggle and read together.

Here is the BEFORE Picture.

I decided to paint an arch and hand some book shelves. The arch was really easy to paint. All you need is a push pin, string and a pencil. Measure out how long you wanted the arch to go. Tie the sting to a pencil and cut it to half the diameter of the arch. Tie the other end to the push pin and place the pin in the center of the wall. Pulled the string tight and run the pencil in a circular motion above the push pin. Stop once you reached 90 degrees on both side and run painters tape down to the floor. Easy Peasy!

I went with a darker pink color and then hung clear acrylic book shelves in the center. This will be such a fun area to decorate for the seasons.

The last thing that I added to this corner was a new chair. Their old chair was clashing with the rest of the room. The color and style of the chair was all wrong. I bought this amazing boho, Rattan Cocoon style chair for the girls to read their favorite books. I love how it is big enough that both of them can sit together. It adds so much personality to the corner of the room.

I still have some things I want to add, but I’m so happy with this little makeover. The girls are loving it too!
