Seed Storage Hack | How to Organize and Store your Heirloom Seeds

Posted on January 17, 2022January 17, 2025

I love a good organizational hack! If you’ve been following for a while, you know that we have a prepper closet for emergency situations. In that closet is a stash of organic, heirloom seeds. We use these seeds every year when it is time to plant our garden. For the past couple of years, the bags of seeds were all thrown into one large Ziplock bag. It was hard to sort through and spills of mystery seeds were a common occurrence. So, when I came across this simple storage solution for seeds I freaked out and put this hack to work asap. Here is how you can organize and store your seeds.

Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. I’m always so thankful when you make purchases through links of our favorite things as it helps support our family.

This photo storage box is perfect for your garden seeds.

Inside the large portable container are mini containers that you can pull out. I organized mine by placing all my tomato seeds in one mini container, all of my lettuce seeds in another, and so on. The portable storage box comes with sticky labels so you can easily label each section. Isn’t this the best Seed Storage Hack?!

This organizational hack took me under 10 minutes to put together. I love how I will now be able to easily find the seeds I need and have a better understanding of what we might need more of when we start to run low. How I wash my fruits and vegetables

After you’ve used this seed storage hack and your garden is growing in abundance. I will share my favorite way to wash our fruits and vegetables. For a long time, I used to be the person who would quickly rinse our produce under the sink. I started to learn more about the chemicals sprayed on fruits and vegetables, and since we get the majority of our produce from the grocery store throughout the year, I started taking better care of washing our food. With 3 little kids, tiny hands are constantly rummaging through the refrigerator for a handful of strawberries or an apple when they want a snack. I started getting in the habit of soaking my fruits and vegetables the minute I walked in from the grocery store. That way all produce would go in the pantry/refrigerator clean and ready to eat.

I began using Thieves fruit and veggie soak and noticed that everything looked so much more alive when I put them away. So, I did a little experiment on Instagram to see the difference between broccoli being soaked in plain water/ vinegar water/and Thieves Veggie Soak. I was in literal shock when I saw the difference between them. The broccoli that was cleaned with Thieves looked amazing, vibrant, and like it came to life without the wax and pesticides on it. I will never go without this product to clean our fruits and veggies! You can check out the video on my Instagram Highlight “Broccoli Experiment”. CLICK HERE to order Thieves Fruit and Veggie Soak.

Looking for one more Organization Hack for your produce?

These berry bins are what I like to store berries, hardboiled eggs, sugar snap peas and more in the refrigerator. I wash, drain and dry them right in these containers and then store them away. They have a lid and are stackable for ultimate organization! I love how I can pull the entire container of berries out and set in on the kitchen table in the mornings for breakfast. Made mom life just a tad easier!
