The Best Way to Organize and Store Barbie Dolls

Posted on February 26, 2021January 17, 2025

The blog post all you girl moms have been waiting for. YEARS I have longed and searched for a way to organize and store Barbie Dolls for the girls. All the dolls, outfits, shoes, little tiny accessories, vehicles, etc. I feel like we tried everything when it came to finding a solution that worked. It was key to find something that would get everything out of sight when the girls weren’t playing with them and a system that would be easy for them to clean up on their own.

Some of the links below are affiliate links, meaning at no additional cost to you, I will earn a commission if you click through and make a purchase. I’m always so thankful when you make purchases through links of my favorite things as it keeps this blog going.

I tried all kinds of ways that ended up being an epic fail. The bookcase with square storage bins in the basement were where they eventually found a home but it was always such a mess. The girls would always end up dumping everything onto the floor to find that other pink shoe they needed to complete Skipper’s outfit. Always a mess, always a stress!

So Christmas rolled around and the girls received a Barbie Dollhouse. I searched high and low for a cute Barbie house and came across this Mid Century Style one. It is so cute and the girls were so excited about it. They begged to keep it in their room. Rex encouraged the idea, but I was hesitant. Where would all the dolls go? I began searching for the same old storage ideas I had tried before. Bookshelves and Bins but they all ended up being too big and bulky for the size of their room, and I just knew how that would end up…huge piles of Barbie’s all over the floor.

One night I was so frustrated because I couldn’t find anything that would work. Rex turned to me and said “Why don’t you get a storage container for under their bed?”

What? A storage bin for under the bed? No! It had to be a cute piece of furniture. That was the only thing that would do!

My Aw-Ha Moment

Then one day I was walking through the store and there it was. Across the aisle from me I saw them stacked high and proud. Long, skinny storage containers for under the bed. Starring at it for a long time, in a final act of desperation to find a solution I bought one.

After getting home I scooped up all the Barbie Dolls and accessories and dumped everything inside the storeage container. I snapped the lid on top and slid it under the bed. I stood up, looked around the room and said “Yup, Rex was right!”

Sometimes the easiest and best solution is the simplest. Not all genius ideas need to be “Pinterest Worthy”.

  • Is our Barbie collection perfectly organized into categories, NOPE.
  • Is it in an adorable bookcase that makes a trendy statement, NOPE.
  • Is it easy for the girls to clean up and hidden when you walk into the bedroom, YOU BET!

I’m happy, the girl’s are happy, and Mr. Perfection is REALLY happy because he was right….again!
