Kick Off Summer Break with an Ice Cream Social Party

Posted on May 19, 2022May 6, 2025

What better way to kick off Summer break than with an Ice Cream Social Party for Kids! My daughter came up with the idea of having all her girlfriends from class come over for an ice cream party. I was so excited to put this together for all of them. A way to hang out outside of school and say goodbye before they all headed off on adventures for the Summer. What I loved about this party idea was how simple it was to put together.

Here is how I set up our Ice Cream Social

It all started when I came across some of the cutest ice cream themed plates and cups at the store. I wanted it to be a bright and colorful party theme. Something that screamed “Ice Cream” and “Summer”. Looking around I saw these really cool balloons that had fun, swirled colors and some bright tissue party fans. I also found the cutest ice cream neon night light that I had to display. My trusty letter board always looks cute. It displayed “Life is too short to be vanilla” and “You are the Sprinkles to my Ice Cream”. We displayed cones with my DIY Ice Cream Cone Wrappers and the most adorable drink cups with ice cream decals.

How to Build an Ice Cream Bar

Picking out toppings for the ice cream was really fun. I put each one in small ramekin dishes so everyone could easily add them to their favorite ice cream.

  • Gummy Worms
  • Gummy Bears
  • Broken Waffle Cones
  • Chocolate Chips
  • Sprinkles
  • Marshmallows
  • Oreo Cookies
  • Hot Fudge
  • Caramel Sauce

I also set out some snacks for parents like cut up bell peppers, carrots, pretzels and of course Mimosas. Check out these adorable Ice Cream Cone shaped Cake Pops too!

Ice Cream Social Party Favors

I wanted to do something special but very simple for the girls to say “Thank You” for coming! I found the cutest Ice Cream Party Favor Boxes and filled them with a light up yoyo, chapstick and cute treat themed temporary tattoos.

It was such a great Summer Party Idea and the girls had so much fun together. The best part was their teacher made a surprise appearance! They got a really big kick out of that.
